Recently, King & Wood Mallesons’ Hong Kong office welcomed Damien Whitehead, head of the restructuring and insolvency practice, along with lawyers Chin-Chong Liew, Ying Zhou, and Simon Zhang, who joined the firm with their teams.
Damien Whitehead has over 20 years of experience in restructuring and insolvency. Prior to joining King & Wood Mallesons, he worked with a number of investment funds and companies, including AB CarVal Investors LP and Wentworth Capital Partners, and held positions at Herbert Smith Freehills, White & Case, and Ashurst.
Chin-Chong Liew focuses on derivatives, structured finance, and financial market infrastructure, bringing more than three decades of legal experience. Before joining the firm, he was a partner at Linklaters and head of the firm’s Asia structured finance and derivatives practice. He has also worked at Allen & Overy, Zain & Co, and Bell Gully.
Ying Zhou advises on helping financial institutions expand their derivatives business in the China market, developing innovative cross-border financing and tokenization projects, and has served multiple domestic and foreign exchanges and clearing houses. She practiced at Linklaters and its joint operation partner Zhao Sheng for over a decade, and was promoted to partner at Zhao Sheng in 2023.
Simon Zhang specializes in advising international financial institutions and providing compliance and structuring advice on global market products for Chinese financial institutions. Before joining King & Wood Mallesons, he was counsel in Linklaters’ structured finance and derivatives practice.
